Think BO!: G.NA - 2HOT
Every artist has a super shallow self praising song. Wonder Girls had So Hot, 2NE1 had I Am The Best and so on forth.
Well, here’s a new one to add to the vanity list, G.NA’s latest song, 2HOT. Now don’t get me wrong, I love G.NA. I think she’s beautiful and talented… but this MV is… well… I’m not a big fan of it.
For starters, when the MV begins, she looks a bit like a spoilt brat with 6 friends, who look more like personal assistants picking out clothes for her to wear. And they didn’t do a very good job. Usually, I really love the clothes that G.NA wears, from the sleek and smart suit jacket and shorts in the Banana MV (which never came out. RAH!!) to to gold jacket and white top in the Black and White MV. But this multicoloured fashion fiasco looks a little bit like poor G.NA got run over by Nyan Cat.
OK firstly, I really love those shorts and those lace up boots are just amazing in that first outfit. But then the top half is just… not so great. The shiny pink and blue vest was one thing but then they added a red-yellow-peach-changey-colour-when-it-moves shiny Barbie jacket on top! (Sorry, I really can’t describe it any better than that =.=”) And it totally doesn’t go with G.NA’s new pink dip dyed hair (which I personally think she’s ROCKING! … even if it is a little Taeyeon in The Boys.)
Next up is outfit 2 with the white crop top blouse and jeans which… I have no problem with. I actually really like that outfit. My only problem with that is how they did her hair. Right, so she has this loose pigtails thing going on and that’s cute.
But WTF is this?
It’s like pigtails made of pigtails. IDGI TT-TT.
OK MOVING ON.
Outfit 3 consists of a blindingly bright lime green mini dress, some terribly coloured make up, the love child of a pink poodle and one of them net scrubby things that you use when you wash and… oh hey, I recognise those boots from somewhere… Anyhoos, despite the fact that I can’t look at it for more than three seconds and that I’m pretty sure I’ve eaten noodles which are longer than it, the green mini dress doesn’t look too bad on her. It may have something to do with G.NA’s amazing legs which she seems to show off continuously throughout the video. (I’m not complaining, I just noticed.) But the main antagonist of this particular look would be the luminous yellow and pink make up on her face. Honestly, I think it makes her look like she fell asleep with her face in a bowl of rhubarb and custard sweets. Not good.
In this outfit, G.NA dons a white vest, a pair of classic black Mary-Jane heels, a MAHOOSIVE bow and a skirt… shorts… thingy. I’m not entirely sure what to make of this. The skirt… shorts… skort… WHATEVER is really pushing me. The fate of my approval rests on that… thing. I like the maid/waitress theme going on here but I think that if there was a little more skirt and a little less short, it would look a lot less like G.NA’s hips were growing bits of fabric in awkward places. And then I would totally love the outfit :)

TL;DR - LOVE G.NA, LOVE THE SONG. Not a big fan of the stylist of this MV…
